Bio

Using her passion for storytelling, Isabella Morcote weaves in subjects centered around cultural identity, mental health, and family into her vibrant music. Her unwavering dedication to crafting simple yet powerful melodies in her works makes her songs immediately recognizable. Her ambitious arrangements on the stage and in the studio show that Morcote isn’t afraid to step outside of the box when it comes to what is seen as modern pop music. This comes from her desire to weave in the old with the new, drawing elements equally from Mercedes Sosa, Trio Los Panchos and Juan Luis Guerra, as well as artists such as Carlos Vives, Natalia Lafourcade and Kina Grannis. Growing up in South Florida, as a first generation Colombian-American, Morcote was heavily inspired by the anthemic songs of the surrounding Latin community such as “Gracias A La Vida”, as well as the pop dance scene of nearby Miami.

Morcote recently graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in Popular Music Performance and Music Production. During her time there, she studied under the instruction of Dr. Patrice Rushen, Sean Holt, Aarón Serfaty, and Adriana Balic. She is currently based in Los Angeles.
